McWorld thoughts

My favorite new thingie? The backup drive for notebooks. Good idea, little pricey, but not too bad. Making backups painless is HOT.
Movie rentals? Maybe, but mostly meh for me. I like rentals as much as the next person, but I can wait a few days for netflix. If they had a rental per month pricing structure like netflix, maybe it’d start to get interesting. Plus, I use my hacked XBox for watching videos on TV, and it works great.

Movie studios including portable versions of movies on DVD’s could be REALLY cool. I’m afraid it’ll be so DRM’d that it’ll be pretty much useless, though. I hope not.

$20 to update the iPod touch? Stupid. My mom just got one for Christmas, and now she has to fork over $20 to add a stupid notepad feature? That’s just dumb. I hope enough people argue that they drop it. This is why I will never buy a new Apple product less than 6 months from release. Being an early adopter from them = expense and frustration.

New macbook thingie- pretty, but I’d rather have an eeepc. Wait, make that 6 Eeepc’s. Never mind, I’ll just stick to my OLPC.

I was really hoping that Apple would enter the sub $600 notebook market. Or at least sub $1000. Apple is, quite clearly aiming for the rich crowd.
